BIM for Landscape Architecture
IFC for Landscape - Example used in Revit

Thursday, November 12, 2015

10 year anniversary. This model was modeled in Revit December 2005.

This model was completed in Revit for landscape December 2005. The model should be of help to illustrate some building blocks as a city street was composed of . Each element of the model is linked to a product sheet with production specification and material descriptions . The model is currently simply but in 2005 the model was of great help and not least a big improvement from working in AutoCAD .

In 2005, vegetation in Revit built different seasons which showed how the vegetation adapted to the season . This functionality had been important to have on vegetation objects when we talk about getting BIM objects for Landscape.

Integrating BIM Technology into Landscape Architecture, 2nd Edition (2014) M

http://www.asla.org/latis.aspx?id=1064

"James L. Sipes, ASLA, provides a detailed discussion about Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology and the various tools that allow for the creation of detailed 3D models. These tools can simplify the process of designing complex spaces and allow design, planning, and construction disciplines to work seamlessly throughout a project. While BIM has traditionally been used in building construction, Sipes explains how various tools can be applied to landscape architecture. The LATIS also includes a comprehensive discussion of BIM standards, applications, and currently available programs. Highlighted are several projects to which BIM has been applied, along with numerous illustrations of its use."
